Horses are what first spurred me on to master my artistic skills. I wanted to ride,
collect, and draw them. An older friend of mine had mastered drawing the challenging
subject matter. My competitive spirit was fueled. Being homeschooled through 8th grade,
gifted me with time to devote to my passion. For hours, I would sit with my doodle
sketch, draw and erase, draw and erase, determined to get the shapes and proportions
right.
As I continued to grow up in the Denver area, I became exposed to the Denver Art
Museum, where I saw the paintings of Albert Bierstadt. Bierstadt’s work left me
completely spellbound, which inspired me to create work that would have the same
powerful effect on people. The passion I had to create led me to Gunnison, Colorado, the
home of Western State University, where I received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Painting
in May 2016. After graduation, I returned to Denver to focus on the Colorado gallery
scene. In 2018, I joyfully became Mrs. Griffith, which moved me to Oklahoma for a few
years.
Today, I am back in the Denver area, painting and exhibiting. I invite the viewer to see
beauty and peace in themselves and in the lives around them through my work. The
reference photos I use to paint my images are all personal, which is very important to me. I only
paint from photos that I took, photos of myself, or occasionally photos that close family
members have taken. I am drawn to using bright colors and textural brush strokes, with
the combination of soft impressionist techniques. Encouragement, warmth, and life are what I desire to share with others through my passion to create.
